As the Director of Student Services for Sisters School District, Lorna Van Geem leads a dedicated team committed to ensuring every student has the opportunity to succeed academically, socially, emotionally, and physically. Guided by the district's mission to Belong, Prepare, Inspire, Lorna works alongside exceptional educators, specialists, counselors, nurses, families, and community partners to build systems of support that empower every student to reach their fullest potential.

With nearly 20 years of experience in special education, Lorna's professional background includes classroom teaching, educational behavior coaching, crisis prevention and de-escalation training, and educational administration. Throughout her career, she has remained passionate about creating inclusive learning environments where students of all abilities are challenged, supported, and celebrated.

Lorna holds two Master of Science degrees, one in Special Education and one in Educational Leadership, which have shaped her commitment to evidence-based practices, collaborative leadership, and continuous improvement. For more than five years, she has proudly served as the Director of Student Services for Sisters School District, strengthening programs that support students from early childhood through graduation and transition services through age 21.

For Lorna, leading Student Services is about far more than overseeing programs, it's about fostering a culture where every student, every family, and every staff member feels a true sense of belonging. She is honored to serve a district that believes every Outlaw has unique strengths, limitless potential, and the opportunity to discover a meaningful path toward success.

She believes in fostering a culture of collaboration, high expectations, and compassion, recognizing that the strongest systems are built when educators, families, and community partners work together to remove barriers, celebrate strengths, and create equitable opportunities for every learner. She is committed to creating an environment where innovation is encouraged, inclusion is intentional, and continuous improvement is embraced.

As a leader, Lorna values transparency, trust, and shared responsibility. Her goal is to ensure every student graduates not only academically prepared, but also equipped with the confidence, resilience, and life skills needed to thrive in life.
