Student Support

At Sisters School District, we believe every student deserves the opportunity to thrive, regardless of ability, background, or need. Our Student Services team is built on the belief that when students feel they belong, they are better prepared to learn, grow, and inspire others.

As Outlaws, we are committed to creating a culture where every student is known, supported, and empowered to reach their fullest potential. Our commitment is reflected in the resources we dedicate to students. Approximately 11% of our students receive special education services, and we are proud to provide individualized support that allow students to access rigorous learning alongside their peers. Our teams work collaboratively with families, educators, and community partners to ensure every student has meaningful opportunities to succeed academically, socially, and beyond graduation.

Student health and wellness are equally important. With a school nursing ratio of approximately one nurse for every 600 students, our nurses provide comprehensive health services that keep students safe, healthy, and ready to learn. From managing chronic medical needs to supporting mental health and wellness, our nursing staff plays an essential role in the daily life of our schools.

Our comprehensive school counseling program is recognized as one of the strongest in the region. With a district-wide counseling ratio of approximately one counselor for every 300 students, our counselors provide a proactive, comprehensive program focused on academic success, career readiness, and social-emotional development. Sisters School District is especially proud that both Sisters Elementary School and Sisters Middle School have earned the prestigious RAMP (Recognized ASCA Model Program) designation, a national honor awarded to exemplary school counseling programs that demonstrate measurable student outcomes and a commitment to excellence.

We also believe inclusion extends well beyond the classroom. During the winter months, our partnership with OAS (Oregon Adaptive Sports) gives students with disabilities the opportunity to learn skiing and snowboarding using adaptive equipment and specialized instruction. These experiences build confidence, independence, resilience, and a lifelong connection to the outdoors that makes Central Oregon such a special place to live.

Our commitment to belonging also shines through our participation in USC (Special Olympics Unified Sport Oregon), a statewide initiative that brings students together through inclusive sports, youth leadership, and whole-school engagement. By creating opportunities for students with and without disabilities to learn, compete, and lead alongside one another, Unified Sports helps foster empathy, friendship, and a school culture where everyone has a place.

Through exceptional special education and 504 services, nationally recognized school counseling, comprehensive nursing care, inclusive leadership opportunities, and innovative community partnerships, we are creating schools where every Outlaw has the opportunity to belong, prepare for the future, and inspire those around them.
