Immunizations

Immunizations play an important role in protecting the health of individual students and the broader school community. Oregon law requires students attending public schools to meet state immunization requirements or have a valid medical or nonmedical exemption on file. Keeping immunization records current helps reduce the spread of vaccine-preventable diseases and supports a safe, healthy learning environment where students are ready to learn.

Families enrolling a new student or updating health records should review the Oregon School Immunization Requirements and submit the required immunization documentation before school begins. If your child does not meet the required immunizations, Oregon law allows families to pursue either a medical exemption, approved through a healthcare provider, or a nonmedical exemption, which requires completion of the state's vaccine education process before submitting the required forms.

Students who do not meet Oregon's immunization requirements or have an approved exemption on file may be excluded from school on the annual Exclusion Day established by the Oregon Health Authority until the required documentation is received. We encourage families to review their student's immunization records early and contact their healthcare provider or school nurse with any questions.

As part of our commitment to transparency, Sisters School District publishes annual Immunization & Exemption Rate Reports for each school. These reports, required by Oregon law, provide school-specific immunization and exemption data and help families better understand immunization rates throughout the district.
