Joe Hosang serves as Director of Human Resources and Curriculum for Sisters School District, where he provides leadership in strategic planning, curriculum and instructional innovation, labor relations, and human resources. Throughout his career, Joe has been passionate about reimagining public education by honoring what has always made schools great while thoughtfully designing innovative learning experiences that prepare students for a rapidly changing world. His work focuses on creating flexible, student-centered systems that connect rigorous academics with authentic purpose, meaningful relationships, and real-world experiences.
Before serving in district leadership, Joe spent nearly a decade as principal of Sisters High School, where collaborative leadership, strong relationships, and a shared commitment to student success contributed to sustained improvements in school culture and student outcomes. A former United States Marine, Joe holds bachelor's and master's degrees from the University of Michigan-Dearborn and an Educational Specialist degree from Oakland University. He is passionate about creating meaningful learning opportunities that prepare students for success in college, careers, and life.

Education is about preparing young people for lives of purpose, wisdom, and meaningful contribution. Academic excellence remains essential, but schools also have the responsibility to help students discover a sense of purpose and hope for the future by becoming curious truth seekers who ask thoughtful questions, evaluate ideas with discernment, think critically, solve authentic problems, and act with integrity. Learning should inspire students to discover their unique individual strengths while developing the character and judgment needed to use those strengths in service of others.
Leadership begins with listening, building trust, and creating a culture where strong relationships and thoughtful innovation flourish together. Students learn best when learning is meaningful, connected to authentic experiences of which they care about, and supported by caring adults who inspire both excellence and belonging. The ultimate goal is to help every student leave school with the knowledge, character, purpose, and hope to continue learning, contribute to their community, and navigate an ever-changing world with wisdom, discernment, courage, and integrity.
