TAG (Talented & Gifted)

At Sisters School District, we believe every student deserves opportunities to learn at a pace and level that inspires growth. Our TAG (Talented and Gifted) program identifies students who demonstrate exceptional academic ability and provides personalized learning experiences that challenge, engage, and support their continued success.

Students may be identified in the areas of intellectual ability, mathematics, and reading. Identification is based on multiple measures, including assessment data, classroom performance, teacher observations, and other evidence of student potential. Students who perform at or above the 97th percentile are considered for identification, and the district also reviews multiple measures when a student falls within the standard error of measurement to ensure that students with demonstrated potential are appropriately considered.

Once identified, each student receives a PEP (Personalized Education Plan) designed to meet their individual rate and level of learning. Plans are developed collaboratively with students, families, teachers, and school staff, taking into consideration each student's strengths, interests, and educational needs. Learning opportunities may include a combination of acceleration and enrichment options selected from each school's continuum of services.

Every school has a TAG Facilitator who works with students, teachers, and families to support implementation of personalized learning plans and help ensure students continue to grow and thrive.

Parents and guardians have rights regarding identification, participation, appeals, and complaints under Oregon's Talented and Gifted education requirements. While families are important partners in the planning process and may choose among available options, educational services are determined collaboratively by the school team based on the individual needs of each student.
