Environmental Health & Facility Safety

Sisters School District is committed to maintaining healthy, safe, and well-managed facilities for students, staff, and visitors. Our schools are regularly inspected, monitored, and maintained in accordance with local, state, and federal health and safety requirements.

Environmental safety work includes monitoring drinking water, radon, asbestos-containing building materials, lead-based paint, carbon monoxide systems, pest activity, and other conditions that may affect school buildings and grounds. When testing, inspections, or corrective work are required, the district works with qualified professionals and appropriate regulatory agencies to address concerns and protect the health of our school community.

The district also follows an Integrated Pest Management Plan, which emphasizes prevention and nonchemical methods whenever practical. When pest-control products are needed, Oregon law requires additional precautions, approved products, proper notification, and oversight by trained personnel.

Our Healthy and Safe Schools Plan brings these responsibilities together and explains how the district monitors environmental conditions, communicates test results, and responds when action is needed.
