Student Chromebooks
Student Chromebooks
Chromebooks are an important part of teaching and learning in Sisters School District. They provide students with access to classroom resources, digital learning tools, assignments, research, collaboration, and educational opportunities both at school and at home. While technology plays an important role in education, it is thoughtfully integrated with hands-on learning, meaningful discussions, and real-world experiences to support student success. The district's goal is to create an engaging, collaborative, and empowering learning environment while helping students become responsible digital citizens.
Each student is issued a district-owned Chromebook for educational use. Because these devices are an important instructional resource, students are expected to care for them responsibly by bringing them to school fully charged each day, protecting them from damage, using them appropriately, and following the district's Responsible Use Guidelines. Chromebooks remain the property of Sisters School District and are returned at the end of each school year or whenever a student leaves the district.
At the time a Chromebook is issued, both the student and a parent or guardian are required to review the Student & Parent Technology and Chromebook Handbook and then sign and return the SSD Device User Agreement acknowledging that they understand and agree to the district's expectations, acceptable use guidelines, responsibilities, and policies regarding device care, digital citizenship, and potential repair or replacement costs. This annual partnership helps ensure students use technology safely, responsibly, and successfully both at school and at home.
The handbook also includes helpful information about caring for your Chromebook, responsible technology use, digital citizenship, healthy media habits, troubleshooting, device protection, and frequently asked questions. We encourage every family to review the handbook together each year as an important part of preparing for a successful school year.
