Counseling & Mental Health Overview
Counseling & Mental Health
School counselors play an essential role in helping every student thrive academically, socially, emotionally, and personally. Beginning in elementary school and continuing through graduation, Sisters School District's counseling team partners with students, families, educators, and community organizations to remove barriers to learning, foster resilience, and help students develop the skills they need for success in school and in life.
Our counselors provide a comprehensive, data-informed school counseling program that supports students through every stage of their educational journey. Services include academic planning, social-emotional learning, individual and small-group support, conflict resolution, crisis response, college and career readiness, graduation planning, scholarship and financial aid guidance, referrals to community resources, and collaboration with families and school staff. While school counselors do not provide ongoing therapy, they offer short-term, solution-focused support and help connect students and families with additional mental health resources when needed.
Sisters School District is also committed to promoting student safety and well-being through proactive education and prevention. Our counseling programs include suicide prevention, child abuse prevention education, and partnerships with organizations such as Care Solace, ensuring students and families have access to additional mental health services and community resources when they are needed most.
One of the district's greatest accomplishments is the implementation of nationally recognized, data-driven comprehensive school counseling programs. Sisters Elementary School and Sisters Middle School have each earned the prestigious RAMP (Recognized ASCA Model Program) designation from ASCA (American School Counselor Association), a distinction earned by only about one percent of schools nationwide. Sisters High School is currently working toward earning this same distinction, demonstrating our district's ongoing commitment to providing exceptional counseling services that measurably improve student outcomes.
Whether you're seeking academic guidance, college and career planning, social-emotional support, crisis resources, or connections to community services, our counseling team is here to help every student feel known, supported, and prepared for the future.
