Student Performance

At Sisters School District, we believe student success is measured by far more than a single test score. True achievement means preparing students with the knowledge, skills, confidence, and character they need to thrive in college, careers, and life. While academic excellence remains a priority, our ultimate goal is to graduate young adults who are adaptable, creative thinkers, effective communicators, collaborative problem-solvers, and lifelong learners.

Our results reflect that commitment. Over the past five years, more than 90% of Sisters High School freshmen have been on track to graduate, while the district has maintained an average graduation rate of approximately 95%, consistently exceeding the Oregon state average. We also hold ourselves to higher expectations by requiring 26 credits for graduation, exceeding the state's minimum requirement of 24 credits. Those additional learning opportunities help ensure every Outlaw graduates with a stronger educational foundation and greater preparation for whatever path they choose next.

We believe meaningful assessment is an essential part of learning, but only when it serves students. Rather than relying on a single snapshot of achievement, our educators use multiple measures throughout the year to understand each student's strengths, identify areas for growth, and provide timely support. District-wide implementation of i-Ready through ninth grade gives teachers valuable information about individual student progress over a long span of time, allowing instruction to be personalized to meet students where they are academically. As students prepare for life after high school, we also utilize nationally recognized assessments, such as the ACT, to help students explore college and career opportunities without unnecessary over-testing.

Most importantly, we believe data should be used to support students, not simply to evaluate schools. Every assessment, classroom observation, and conversation helps our educators better understand each learner so they can provide the right support at the right time. Academic growth is only one part of the equation. We are equally committed to developing the skills that matter most in today's world, including critical thinking, creativity, communication, adaptability, resilience, and collaboration. These qualities are central to our Portrait of a Graduate and reflect what it truly means to be prepared for the future.
